About

Chartreuse (Green) - 70cl / 55%

Its a liqueur - but at 55% ?!

Made by Carthsian monks since 1737 according to a manuscript obtained in 1605 & named after the monastery, located in the Chartreuse mountains.
Only 2 Chartreuse monks know the identity of all the botanicals, how to blend them and distill them & which plants to macerate to produce the natural green colour.

It contains 130 herbs, plants & flowers macerated in alcohol and steeped for about 8 hours! - Resulting in the completely natural green colour you observe.

Taste

Chartreuse has a very strong characteristic taste. It is very sweet, but becomes both spicy and pungent. It is comparable to other herbal liqueurs such as Galliano, Liquore Strega or Kräuterlikör, though it is distinctively more vegetal, or herbaceous
